Valentine's Love

Woo hoo! We finally had our first full week of school since December 9! I think the students handled the full 5 days better than I did considering I showed up to school on group picture day wearing my “Friday casual” look (sweatshirt, tennis shoes, AND maternity jeans).

Between the Olympics and Valentine's Day, we've been having a lot of fun. One of our first grade dads is a former Olympic volleyball star so he came to talk to our students. He brought videos, pictures, and his rings from 2000 and 2004. The students were in awe! They kept saying, "He is so tall!" and "I think he's taller than Abraham Lincoln!"
We read the book My Map Book and focused on the heart map. The children then brainstormed a list of things that belonged in their heart map before each creating their own.  They worked so hard and were very happy with the finishing touch…adding red glue to the lines between each section. For them the red glue was really the icing on the cake.

Since this is the season of LOVE we made symmetrical "love monsters." This is a cute Valentine craft that even the boys have fun doing!

To end the week we celebrated with a Valentine Party complete with cards, cookies, beanbag toss, and mustaches.
Enjoy your week!
